For the 14th consecutive year, nursing ranks highest on Gallup’s list of the most trusted professions in the U.S. According to their annual poll that rated honesty and ethics in various fields, 85% of Americans gave nurses “high” or “very high” ratings.
According to Gallup, nurses have ranked highest on this poll "every year but one since they were added to the list in 1999. The exception is 2001, when firefighters were included on the list on a one-time basis, shortly after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks." Other professions that were rated highly on this year's poll included pharmacists, medical doctors, high school teachers, and police officers.
