There are a lot of books on evidence-based practice. What makes this book different?
It is a good thing that we are seeing more references for evidence based practice. Our book is different in that we focused from the beginning on “how will this book be used.” Our yardstick, for everything from the chapters to the appendices was framed with application in mind. A staff nurse or an administrator should be able to pick up this book and use the recommendations here immediately. The appendices in particular are reproducible forms and checklists that can kick-start an EBP effort.
Looking at the list of contributors, it is clear we have an impressive range of contributors. Dr. Colleen Goode, winner of AONE’s outstanding researcher award, collaborated with Dr. Sharon Pappas, winner of the INARC outstanding research award to produce sound, sensible advice about the role of leadership in EBP implementation. Virtually all of the contributors are practicing EBP in their own field, and the book is the better for it.
