Gerontological Nursing Competencies for Care, Fourth EditionOver the next three decades, the U.S. population of people over 65 is expected to grow by more than half. By 2050, worldwide life expectancy is also projected to grow by nearly eight years. With more people living longer, health care has never been more important. That's why we recently published a new edition of Kristen Mauk's trusted Gerontological Nursing: Competencies for Care, a text that focuses on caring for older adults through a holistic and interdisciplinary approach.

Based on the framework of the core competencies for baccalaureate nursing education published by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and the John A. Hartford Foundation Institute for Geriatric Nursing, it provides the structure necessary to ensure that nursing students attain the recommended knowledge necessary to provide excellent care to older adults.
