
Jones & Bartlett Learning author Michelle A. Dart will be the keynote speaker at the Nursing Now: Updates & Trends in Nursing Practice conference in Cicero, NY on September 28, 2012. Hosted by the SUNY Upstate Medical University College of Nursing and the Nursing Alumni Association, the conference features faculty and alumni presenters from both clinical and educational settings speaking on current topics and trends in nursing practice, education, and research.
In a presentation entitled "Empowering Our Patients, Empowering Ourselves," Dart will discuss motivational interviewing, an evidence-based communication tool that can promote behavior change. Author of Motivational Interviewing in Nursing Practice: Empowering the Patient, Dart is also a pediatric nurse practitioner, a diabetes support group facilitator, and a certified diabetes educator. She earned her BS degree in nursing at Elmira College in 1995, and her MS degree and pediatric nurse practitioner certificate in 2001 from Upstate Medical University.
