    National Nurses Week 2018

Join us in celebrating National Nurses Week. Created by the American Nurses Association (ANA), National Nurses Week takes place every May 6 through May 12 to commemorate Florence Nightingale’s birthday. This year’s theme is “Nurses: Inspire, Innovate, Influence.”

According to ANA President Pamela F. Cipriano, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN,

“Because of nurses’ wide-ranging roles and our sheer numbers, we are well positioned to identify and help solve many public health problems in the course of providing individual care to our patients and their families. Nurses have successfully used our voices and expertise to inspire, innovate, and influence to advance the health of our nation. I urge all nurses to become passionate about public health and to advocate for the causes that they feel strongly about.”

This year's National Nurses Week theme coincides with ANA's commitment to make 2018 the Year of Advocacy at the bedside and beyond. This includes:

    • Nurses advocating locally
    • Nurses influencing elected officials
    • Nurses get out the vote
    • Nurses making a global impact

As part of National Nurses Week, ANA is also offering a webinar on May 9 featuring Dan Weberg, author of the recently published Leadership in Nursing Practice, Third Edition, entitled "Emerging Technology and Its Impact on Nursing Practice!”

From all of us at Jones & Bartlett Learning, thank you to all the incredible nurses who make the world better this and every week.
