As part of our celebration of National Nurse's Week and our recent campaign for nominations of nurses and midwives who are making a difference, we're spotlighting Reena, a NICU nurse from Brooklyn Hospital Center. Reena was nominated by her daughter, Reshma.
"I am nominating my mother, a dedicated NICU nurse for 30 years at Brooklyn Hospital Center. She is truly one of a kind and came from such a humble beginning. My mother is from a small village in Kerala, India and the tenth child in a family of twelve children! She was determined to be a nurse and wanted to bring positive changes to her family. She worked hard and moved to the United States where she passed the NCLEX- RN exam and joined a wonderful team of NICU nurses at Brooklyn Hospital Center.
I have grown up witnessing the dedication and determination my Mom has. I was encouraged and inspired by my Mom to become a nurse myself. Hopefully I will be as great as her.”
Reena, on behalf of Jones & Bartlett Learning we thank you for your passion, dedication and service! May you be an inspiration to us all and those embarking on a career in healthcare.
