The 18th annual National Public Health Week is quickly approaching, and is celebrated April 1-7. This year's theme is "Public Health Is ROI: Save Lives, Save Money." Uniting around this year’s theme, Americans and their communities are encouraged to take preventive measures to help improve their lives. Little steps can lead to big changes.
On October 27, the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) and the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) co-sponsored the second annual Undergraduate Education for Public Health Summit in San Francisco, CA. Held prior to the American Public Health Association (APHA) annual conference, the summit gathered more than 120 public health educators and professionals to discuss the future of public health education. Workshops explored a wide-variety of public health topics and fostered discussion of undergraduate programs in public health, general education development, and graduate study. Sessions included models of undergraduate education, civic engagement programs for students, curriculum articulation, evaluation and assessment, and recruiting and retaining faculty.
