Frontiers, one of the world's largest open-access publishers in the health field, just released a new eBook entitled Undergraduate Education for Public Health in the United States. Faculty from accredited schools and programs across the nation have contributed to the 20 chapters.
On October 27, the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) and the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) co-sponsored the second annual Undergraduate Education for Public Health Summit in San Francisco, CA. Held prior to the American Public Health Association (APHA) annual conference, the summit gathered more than 120 public health educators and professionals to discuss the future of public health education. Workshops explored a wide-variety of public health topics and fostered discussion of undergraduate programs in public health, general education development, and graduate study. Sessions included models of undergraduate education, civic engagement programs for students, curriculum articulation, evaluation and assessment, and recruiting and retaining faculty.
