    Expert Doug Casa Speaks About Preventing Sudden Death

    The safety of athletes and the prevention of sudden death to due to heatstroke are growing concerns in sports and physical activity. Each year we see many young athletes succumb to heat stroke. Real Sports recently caught up with one of the world’s leading experts on heat stroke, Dr. Doug Casa. The message that Casa would like to convey to coaches and anyone who is charged with overseeing young people and athletics is that it is preventable emphasizing the importance of using ice tubs to save the lives of athletes suffering from heat stroke.

    All the evidence suggests that if an athlete can go in one of those ice tubs within 10 minutes, they’re going to survive the heat stroke. “ Dr. Doug Casa, author, Professor of Kinesiology at University of Connecticut and CEO of the Kory Stringer Institute.
