Jones & Bartlett Learning debuted their new, personalized adaptive learning (PAL) platform at the 43rd annual Special Interest Group in Computer Science Education of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM SIGCSE) conference in Raleigh, NC.
With more than 1,200 computer science educators gathered to explore new learning solutions to enhance their teaching and student outcomes, SIGCSE was an obvious choice to introduce PAL Computer Science. Other sponsors included industry leaders such as Microsoft, Google, Intel, and Oracle.
Preloaded with engaging, interactive digital content from Jones & Bartlett Learning, PAL Computer Science uniquely combines study planning, personalized assessment and remediation, and data analysis tools all in one easy-to-use application. Developed for an introduction to computer science course, PAL Computer Science uses diagnostic assessments to automatically generate individualized study plans with content tailored to address student weaknesses. PAL Computer Science enables students to study more efficiently so they are better prepared for lectures and exams, and empowers instructors with detailed and highly actionable analytics of student knowledge gaps.
Visitors to the Jones & Bartlett Learning booth at SIGCSE were led through the comprehensive student and instructor reporting and assessment features including usage and engagement compared to class average, quiz and test scores, and proficiency in learning objectives. By identifying student proficiency in specific learning objectives, PAL Computer Science allows instructors to tailor their teaching to ensure students understand key concepts.
PAL Computer Science can be fully integrated into a course to provide an engaging and analytics-driven remediation tool to enhance an existing curriculum. PAL Computer Science is fully hosted and technically supported by Jones & Bartlett Learning. To learn more about PAL Computer Science, visit go.jblearning.com/PALcs.
