Midwives and midwifery advocates—this is your week! Created by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM), National Midwifery Week takes place October 3-9, 2011 and celebrates the important role that midwives play in the lives of women and their families.
According to ACNM,
“Every year, more than 300,000 US women partner with midwives to navigate birth, puberty, menopause, and other normal life stages. But millions more don’t have midwives in their area or are simply unaware that midwives are available.”
What’s more, they’ve created Team Midwife, “a social media-driven campaign that gives midwifery clients a way to support their midwives and raise awareness of the profession in their community.”
