The American Academy of Nursing just announced their 2014 class of nursing fellows– and the list includes five Jones & Bartlett Learning authors! The nurse leaders selected for this prestigious honor include Cynthia Barrere, Kathleen Heinrich, Nancy Crigger, Karin Reuter-Rice, and Barbara Haag-Heitman.
Each year, the American Academy of Nursing selects a new class of fellows. This year, 168 nurse leaders were invited to join due to their leadership in education, management, policy, and work to improve the health of the nation. The induction will take place during the Academy’s 2014 Transforming Health, Driving Policy Conference on October 18, 2014, in Washington, DC.
Comprised of more than 2,200 nurse leaders in education, management, practice, policy, and research, the Academy fellows include hospital and government administrators, college deans, and renowned scientific researchers. The 2014 class represents all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 24 countries.
“The American Academy of Nursing welcomes this stellar cohort of new fellows,” declared Academy president Diana Mason, PhD, RN, FAAN. “As clinicians, researchers, educators, executives, and leaders in all sectors of our society, they are joining the nation’s thought leaders in nursing and health care.”
Fellowship criteria includes evidence of significant contributions to nursing in addition to sponsorship by two current Academy fellows. In addition, a panel comprised of elected and appointed fellows reviews each applicant’s contribution to the nursing field. New fellows will be eligible to use the credentials FAAN (fellow of the American Academy of Nursing) after their induction in October.
Please join us in congratulating the 2014 fellows on this impressive achievement!
